A non-verbal boy from the Moreton Bay region has gone viral for all the right reasons, with thousands of Queenslanders volunteering to send Phoenix Myers aka “Phoudini” a birthday card for his 10th birthday.
At only nine years of age, Phoenix, of Beachmere, who has autism, has gained a massive following online after his mother started sharing videos of his adventures on YouTube and TikTok.
Just a few days ago, Phoenix’s mother Jaymee-Lee Myers asked the Moreton Bay community to send her son cards for his birthday on July 4.
“Because double figures is a big milestone, we thought it would be awesome to set a challenge to see how many fans send him a birthday card,” she said.
“We did this once before for his fourth birthday, and received 39.”
Within just 48 hours the initial post had been shared over 350 times, with fans from as far as the United Kingdom vowing to send Phoenix a birthday card.
In a Facebook post earlier this year, Mrs Myers described how Phoenix shows affection.
“Phoenix is still young but at this stage in his life, I feel that he is an even mix of quality time and physical touch,” she said.
“He does not speak but I know how much he loves me. And it is true, unfiltered love. People warned us when he was diagnosed, telling us that he would never form emotional bonds or connections. They were wrong. All of them.”
