A couple and their dog have been left devastated after their five-month-old border collie Lola went missing at the weekend.
Tom and Caitlin Pagliaro last saw their adorable puppy at their Hawthorne home in central Brisbane at 3pm on Saturday and returned around 9pm to find Lola’s brother, Lenny, by himself.
The couple don’t believe Lola escaped, they believe Lola was stolen and a pet Detective they spoke with agrees with them.
“She thought it was highly suspicious and thought it sounded like she had been stolen,” Ms Pagliaro said.
“They’re at home by themselves everyday and honestly if we leave the door open she doesn’t runaway … so we do think she’s been taken from the yard.”
But Tom and Caitlin aren’t the only ones missing Lola, with the couple saying Lenny hasn’t been the same since Saturday.
“It’s a bit sad, normally when we get home Lenny jumps on us and says hi, but the last two days we’ve come home he has run out the gate and started sniffing around and looking outside which he has never done before,” Mr Pagliaro said.
“They’re very attached to each other.”
The desperate couple have offered a financial reward, put up posters and made a Facebook page Find Lola to hopefully bring her home
“The message to everyone I guess is that you can surrender her to a vet or even to our front yard with no questions asked, and as long as she is brought back that is all we care about,” Mr Pagliaro said.
“It really tugs at peoples heart strings, people have taken it quite personally and been upset on our behalf and it has sparked people into a bit of action,” he said.
The page has nearly 1000 like with Brisbane getting behind the couple to bring Lola home.
“The rationale we’ve been given is that breeders have an unprecedented waiting list and apparently prices have gone up and it creates a market were people can flog a puppy and sell it for a few grand,” Mr Pagliaro said.
“She is a part of our little family.”
The couple have filed a police report but hope the public can also help find their adorable puppy.
“We just want her home.”
