Bella, Luna and Charlie lead the pack when it comes to Brisbane’s most popular dog names. Classic pooch names including Coco, Max, Ruby, Frankie, Archie, Daisy, and Buddy were the next most common for four-legged friends.

Brisbane City Council has revealed staffordshire bull terriers to be the breed that stole locals’ hearts as it recorded 18,548 new dog registrations last financial year, up more than 1000 from the previous year.
Staffies were followed closely by labrador retrievers, border collies, german shepherds, Maltese and Australian kelpies as the most owned breeds in Brisbane.
Cavalier King Charles spaniels, Australian cattle dogs, Jack Russell terriers, Australian cattle dogs, American Staffordshire terriers and dachshunds rounded out the top 10.
Staffy owner Jessica Sharpe said the name Luna seemed like the perfect fit for their family dog.
“It just suits her,” she said.
“I think it was because she is so black, even though the moon isn’t black it’s like a night-time reference, but I just think it was because it’s a cool name.
“It’s just a pretty name, I think.”
She said her son Billy, 4, and Luna, 6, were best friends.
“He is attached to her and she is so sweet-natured, he jumps on her, rides her back and pulls her ears and she just sits there and looks up at us like ‘Can you please save me’,” Ms Sharpe said.
