Darra was named the top suburb by Australia Post for dog-related incidents involving postal workers, with Stafford at No.6.

Australia Post general manager safety and wellbeing Rod Maule said with posties heading into the busiest time of the year, dog owners need to ensure their pets were secure – and keep workers safe.

“We see a lot of incidents occur at the front door as posties try to deliver packages, with dogs racing out from behind their owners,” he said.

“It takes just a second to secure your dog in another room, and it makes the world of difference to our team members.”

Mr Maule said if it was not safe for posties to approach a home, then they would have no choice but to not deliver packages.

Posties were also able to log a location of a dangerous dog, allowing other workers to get a warning before approaching a home.
