Op shoppers in Capalaba were left with a fright after a snake was found hiding in donated goods last week.
Snake enthusiast, Youknowthatoneguywho uploaded footage to TikTok of a snake browsing the handbag section of the thrift store on Monday.
“Casually thrift shopping with Mum in Capalaba, next thing we know a lady is screaming and running away from the handbag section. Turns out a cute little carpet python had made its way into the store,” he said.
“Appeared to be exceptionally friendly, which had me immediately believing this is a pet.
“Does anybody know of someone who has misplaced their beloved python recently?”
On Thursday, an update was posted on the status of the ‘pet’.
People all over the state have emailed the content creator asking to adopt the snake, affectionately named ‘Thrift’.
The original owner of the snake has not come forward yet, however the TikTok creator is currently looking at the legalities of becoming a full-time carer for Thrift.
In the last year snakes have been found in many weird places around Queensland, including under Christmas trees, in cafes and toy boxes.
