A video of fish quickly clearing the way for a bull shark in Brisbane’s north has gone viral days after a similar video believed to be a catfish attracted debate among locals.

Over the years North Pine River in Petrie has become known for the swathes of bull sharks in the murky waters.

Greg Barnett posted in the Moreton Community Facebook group on Monday with footage taken near the bull shark hot spot, stating masses of bull sharks were spotted in the river.

“In the shallows nearly in freshwater there are masses of bull sharks. As this bird jumps in the water you can see how many sharks come to see what the splash was,” the post read.

Locals were divided with many commenters suspecting the aquatic creature was actually a catfish.

The majority of commenters agreed warning signs should be added to the area.

“No signs giving any warnings to people including young kids who are risking their lives for a shark feed as they swim out,” one local said.

Undeterred by the controversy, Mr Barnett shared a second video to the group three days later, with locals now in agreement: don’t mess with bull sharks.

Bull sharks are considered to be one of the most dangerous shark species in the world due to their aggression.

North Pine River is a popular swimming spot for locals however no shark deaths have been recorded in the Petrie area.
