Labrador Retriever’s have been crowned the most popular Brisbane dog in 2022, according to council’s latest dog data.
Brisbane City Council recently released its annual dog registration numbers revealing the city’s most popular dog breeds, names and suburbs filled with precious pooches.
The most sought-after dog names in 2022 were Charlie and Bella, followed by Molly, Ruby and Max.
Meanwhile, Bracken Ridge was Brisbane’s most dog obsessed suburb, home to more than 2300 registered dogs.
Forest Lake and The Gap were close behind, with more than 2000 registered pups each.
Brisbanites also proved to love dogs of all sizes, with the top four breeds after Labrador Retrievers being Maltese, Border Collie, Cavalier King Charles spaniel and Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said Brisbane was truly a pooch-friendly city, housing a whopping 112,000 dogs.
He reminded residents to keep their dog safe by ensuring it was properly registered with the council.
“Around 40 per cent of households have at least one dog, and I’m not surprised,” Mr Schrinner said.
“An important part of being a responsible dog owner is registering your four-legged friend, which helps council reunite them with you if they ever get lost.
