At only four-weeks-old, this foal’s arrival has been a long time coming - becoming the first of his kind in Australia has been an eight-year-long journey.
Eatons Hill Soloman has been dubbed a ‘unicorn,’ as he carries two incredibly rare genes that set him out from the rest.
The Grulla Dun Morgan would grow into a steel grey colour with primitive markings.
Eatons Hill Stud owner Lisa Wong said she had been tracking the bloodline that led to the birth of Soloman for almost a decade.
“Eight years ago we went to America to look for a stallion, and we didn’t find the stallion that we were looking for but we found this mare, except that we were having twins at the time and they came early,” she said.
“We couldn’t buy the mare but I’ve tracked her and her son for eight years.”
The son of this mare, True West Silver Suede has gone on to father Soloman after his frozen semen was sent from the US to Australia.
Ms Wong said Queenslanders could catch a glimpse of the rare horse at the 2021 Ekka if all went to plan.
Ms Wong said her eight-year-old twin sons Daniel and Wyatt could not get enough of their new friend.
“They love him, he’s very friendly, he loves lots of cuddles and some pats so they’re quite happy to go in there and spend hours with him.”
