A Brisbane homeowner has been left stunned by an aggressive python stalking her pet cats and displaying behaviour she’d never seen before.

Kelly White, posting to the 4069 Community and Surrounds Facebook page, says the python has been a regular visitor to her veranda.

In the latest encounter, it had wrapped itself around a birdcage and was “striking repeatedly” at her beloved cats.

Ms White said in her 20 years of living at her residence, she had never seen this behaviour from snakes before.

“Please keep an eye on small pets,” she said.

“Snakes seem to be getting braver be coming closer to inside people’s homes and near pets.”

Ms White said her cats weren’t scared of the snake and had been approaching it.

“Got both cats inside, but my other cat refused and is outside with the snake.

“I’ve been outside over 40 minutes trying to get my cat away, but whatever way I go, this snake is really riled up and trying to strike.”

“I’ve had to call it a night and hope for the best,” she said.
