Gravy lovers unite! Australians across the country are going crazy for ‘Gravy Day’.
Social feeds are filled to the brim with pictures of gravy and if you’ve never heard of Paul Kelly you’re probably wondering what ‘Gravy Day’ is all about.
Paul Kelly fans have been celebrating December 21 since the release of the four-track EP ‘How to Make Gravy’ in 1996.
The first verse in the song refers to ‘Joe’ writing a letter on December 21 to his brother, with the final chorus referring to gravy being made.
“I’m gonna make some gravy, I’m gonna taste the fat,” the song says.
Despite not being considered a national holiday or a public holiday in any state, December 21 is still celebrated by diehard Paul Kelly fans as the day to indulge in some gravy.
Victorian fans have jumped on the gravy train, with Melbourne hosting a flash-mob choir to perform ‘How to Make Gravy’ tonight at Federation Square.
