The internet has spoken: Here are the best twin names

Matchy-matchy, rhyming... Jack and Daniel...or nah?

Sweet and feminine names for your baby game

Naming twins might feel like double the pressure, so it makes sense why you might turn to the internet for advice so you don't get it wrong.

Over on the Name Nerds subreddit, one curious mum-to-be asked the community for the best twin names they've ever heard that have stuck with them (in a good way!)

And wow, did they deliver.

"Vic and Nic"

"I have always loved the idea of twin names that go hand in hand and yet I have a very hard time coming up with a set of names that actually seem to do this," she wrote.

"Even though it kinda gets looked down on in this group I do love the idea of a theme. ie nature names, vintage, or modern," the OP continued.

"So, what’s your fave twin names?"

Straight off the bat, the first comment made the case for rhyming nicknames.

"Honestly, for me it’s hard to beat the Rugrats combo of Phillip and Lillian (Phil and Lil)" they said.

Another replied: "I actually know a set of twins with rhyming nicknames! Victoria and Nicole and they go by Vic & Nic."

And this expectant mum said: "I am planning this for if my second is a girl. I currently have a Lilien (Lily) and my next girl name is Matilda (Tilly)."

Other suggestions in this category included Alli and Calli, Chloe and Zoe, Aiden and Jayden and Daisy and Maisie.

"Noel and Leon"

Meanwhile, another commenter said she knows some twins with another interesting name connection. "Alice and Celia, because they’re anagrams! Sound super different but have a not-so-obvious implicit connection," they explained.

Another responded, "My mum told me that if she had ever had boy twins, she would have named them Noel & Leon," as each name is the other spelt backwards.

Then, others suggested more unique play-on-word names.

"Aubrey and Zoe- they’re A to Z," one wrote.

"When I was a little girl, I was planning to have twin girls & name them Dawn & Eve," another shared.

However, some people thought matching names were overdone.

"Make sure you don’t make them match. The kids hate that. They aren’t a fancy poodle. They’re people," wrote one.

Then a twin entered the chat to warn parents against this as well.

"As an identical twin, I can tell you that it’s hard enough to be treated as an individual whole person rather than half of a matched set without having same-sounding names. I am so thankful my parents didn’t saddle us with cutesy, matchy names," they said.

But that didn't stop the matching name suggestions...

Others included:

  • Ben and Jerry
  • Gwenivere and Lancelot
  • Mary Kate and Ashley
  • Apollo and Artemis
  • Cody and Zach
