A pregnant woman was left horrified when a stranger did something “rude” while in Bunnings – sparking debate online.

A heavily pregnant woman has divided the internet after revealing she pushed an older woman’s hand off her belly when she touched it.

The woman, Danielle Fraser, was in Bunnings when a stranger approached her and asked how far along she was while touching her bump.

The mum-to-be didn’t appreciate the contact so looked her in the eye and pushed her hand off her belly.

Danielle shared her experience in a video on TikTok at @theaveragewifeau. She explained a woman – believed to be in her sixties – touched her pregnant stomach without consent, before asking how many months along she was.

In the clip, Danielle said she “grabbed” the stranger’s hand and “pushed it off” her belly, before giving a ruthless reply.

“So I’m in Bunnings. This lady – she’s not old old, but she’s probably 60 – put her hand on my stomach and went, ‘Oh, how far are you?’” she said.

“I grabbed her hand, looked her in the eye, pushed it off and went ‘I’m not pregnant’ and then waddled away.

Touching strangers is ‘always rude’

The video has been viewed more than 32,000 times.

Many followers commented that it was rude to touch a pregnant woman’s belly without asking first, especially not knowing the circumstances, or if she is even pregnant.

“Some people have no boundaries,” one wrote.

A second person said, “What if she said had recently miscarried? What if she actually wasn’t pregnant? This is never OK.”

While a third said, “Touching strangers was ALWAYS rude. We need to stop making excuses for people acting entitled to women’s bodies.”

However there were plenty of people didn’t see the problem, and thought Danielle’s reaction was rude.

“Oh how terrible some lovely lady touching your stomach. God what’s the problem?” one asked.

“I get it people shouldn’t touch but I think it comes from a place of excitement at thought of new life. I try to educate not belittle,” another follower wrote.

While someone else said: “That was a bit mean. Boundaries are real, but she meant no harm.”

Others pointed out you should never comment on a stranger’s pregnancy, ever.

“Unless I see a baby’s head popping out, I will never assume or say pregnancy. I’ve been caught once and won’t let it happen again.”
