Nanny quits after she committed unforgivable act against parents

"Wait, SHE walked out? She should have been fired for doing it in the first place. That is a huge privacy issue," one shocked commenter wrote.

Mum's genius idea for her babysitter

In a viral Reddit post to the AITA forum, a mum shared her babysitting saga, sparking a heated debate among parents about privacy and trust.

The mum, posting anonymously, detailed the incident, saying, "I have a babysitter who watches my two young girls while me and my husband go to work. She brings her daughter with her. She's always been great."

However, things took a turn when the babysitter was late one morning, causing the mum to be late for work.

She apologised and the mum thought they were all good and moved on.

"I feel bad"

The situation escalated the following day when the babysitter, while using an iPad with the mum's daughter, noticed some of the mum's text messages popping up.

These included casual venting to her husband about the previous day’s lateness and a swipe about the babysitter having polished off the family's Oreos.

While she didn't intend to read more messages, curiosity got the better of her and she ended up going back through a whole month of texts.

What she read only got worse, and there were countless more messages ranting about her, so she decided to quit.

"She was really hurt that I would complain about her to him. I feel horrible but also violated that she read all our texts," the mum shared. "I apologised but I still feel bad."

"Huge privacy issue"

The response from the forum was largely supportive of the mum.

One commenter noted, "You have the right to vent in private to your husband."

Another added, "Reading texts that pop up is one thing, but to continue reading past messages is a breach of trust."

And a third reassured: "The babysitter was unprofessional by doing that, and you're better off securing your electronics and hiring someone else."

"NTA," someone else agreed. "She should have been fired for going through your text messages. That is a huge privacy issue.

"Everyone complains about stuff, even minor like the Oreos. She is completely in the wrong here."
