My wife named our son after her first love and I had no idea for 5 years

"The way I found out was horrible. I can't look at her the same way," the distraught dad says.

Betrayal is one of the fastest ways to kill a relationship, and it doesn't always involve physical cheating.

 

One dad on the internet this week has revealed that his wife has betrayed him with her ex... by naming their baby after the man.

What's almost as hurtful is the way the dad found out.

I discovered my wife named our baby after her first love

A screenshot of the man's social media post was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).

"My son is five. About two days ago, we were out shopping and ran into a high school friend of hers," he begins.

"She was catching up when she told the friend that we have a son.  When the old friend asked his name, my wife hesitated, and I told her.

"She had a strange look on her face then said you mean like your ex-boyfriend."

That was the moment the poor man's world came crashing down.

"Our son's name is very unique to the point that I've never met another person with the same name. Now she's refusing to talk to me about it."

The man adds that he feels totally "betrayed" and "disgusted."

"It's like a switch was flipped in my mind and I just can't look at her the same way."

"It's not too late"

The post attracted 12 million views, 4000 retweets and 2000 comments.

Some talked the man down, suggesting things like: "Maybe she just liked the name?"

Others were more extreme and advised the man to "get a divorce."

Then there were those who offered solid advice with analysis of the situation.

"The kid is young, it's not too late to change his name. Don't let this weigh on your relationship with him. As for the wife - that will be harder to fix," said one.

Another added, "I like the name of my first love, and would consider it for a kid."

And a third said, "Miscommunication, but it's not the end of the world."

Then, there were the jokes, with these two offering, "This is like if Will and Jada had a son and named him Tupac," and "Imagine trying to get marital advice on Reddit."

Finally, there was this petty take: "Have a daughter and name her after your wife's best-looking friend."
