'I’m sick of kids next door throwing toys over the fence, so I’m taking action'

“Today they threw a ball over and smashed our side light … I was pretty darn close to sending the ball back over with a knife sticking in it,” frustrated Peter writes.

Family in feud about footies over fence (7 News)

Peter has had enough of the kids that live next door

The musician and photographer living in Western Australia explained that his neighbour’s kids continuously throw things over the fence.

At first, it wasn’t an issue, but as more things landed in his backyard, his tolerance levels started to dwindle.

Now he’s fed up.

Kids next door constantly throw things over the fence

“Neighbour’s kids keep throwing stuff over the fence,” he said to the social media platform X (the site formally known as Twitter.)

“Balls. Toy cars. Shoes. Bottles. Rubbish. Keys,”  he added.

“Today, they have thrown a ball over and smashed our side light,” Peter wrote. “I was pretty darn close to sending the ball back over with a knife sticking in it.”

But he opted for a more gentle approach, writing a letter instead and sticking it to the ball.

“Just letting you know that this ball has smashed our side alley light bulb,” read the note. “If you could please let the kids know that this will be the last time we will be returning the ball, that would be appreciated.”

“Being ADHD myself, I am empathising less”

After returning the ball next door, the parents told Peter their child “has just been diagnosed with ADHD.”

“Same kid who constantly beeps the horn and is a general turd burglar,” he added.

But Peter wasn’t buying it.

He explained that he was “extremely ADHD” as a child, and while he’d “like to empathise” with the parents, he said that his diagnosis didn’t stop him from understanding “boundaries.”

“By being ADHD myself, I am empathising less,” he declared.

Others online flocked to support Peter’s decision.

“Our neighbour's kids have damaged our fence twice kicking their footballs,” someone shared. “They are old enough to know better, yet they continue to climb over our fence to their balls when we're not there.”

“Totally sympathise,” said another. “Our neighbour’s kid constantly kicks his ball, sometimes two or three in our garden every day. We chuck it back and it's over again 10 minutes later. The dad's an arse so there's no getting through to them. The knife is a tempting solution.”
