I'm pregnant and my neighbours keep telling me to 'cover up'

"They're avoiding using their deck because seeing so much of my body is uncomfortable for them," the woman said in the viral post.

Common discomforts of pregnancy

A woman has taken to the internet to share her outrage over her neighbours' suggestion to 'cover up' her "large, pasty pregnant body" (her words not ours!) while swimming in her backyard pool.

We're sure she's a beautiful, glowing angelic mermaid, but that's beside the point.

Even if she wasn't, the last thing a pregnant woman, or any woman for that matter, needs is unsolicited commentary on their body.

ESPECIALLY not from voyeuristic neighbours, perving at you in the comfort of your own home...

The audacity! But anyway... we'll let the comment sections do the rest of the judging.

Her neighbours don't use their deck as seeing her body is 'uncomfortable'

Taking to the Am I The A**hole forum, the woman, @Pregnantpoolta explained that she's currently eight months pregnant and feeling uncomfortable.

"Being in the water helps enormously, so I like to spend a good chunk of time most evenings just floating in my pool," she says.

"I wear a bikini to do this because it's about a million times easier than fighting with a one-piece," she writes. "The end result of this is that my neighbours get an eyeful of large, pale (wear sunscreen, kids!), stretchmark-covered belly when they look in the direction of my backyard."

She went on to explain that her neighbours intercepted her husband the other day when he was leaving their house to express their concerns over his pregnant wife swimming in their own pool.

"They asked if I could cover up more," she explains.

Apparently, the neighbours are even avoiding using their deck because seeing "so much" of the woman's body is "uncomfortable" for them.

It was such a bizarre request that the husband began to laugh, thinking it was a joke.

"They didn't press, but now they've started giving me dirty looks whenever they see me," she concludes before asking, "AITA for subjecting my neighbours to my pasty pregnant body on the regular?"

'This is a they problem, not a you problem'

The forum's official verdict?: Absolutelyyyy not.

"Continue to float and use your pool at any time. Their request is ridiculous and shamey," a top comment read. "You are beautiful and about to deliver the life you and your husband have been waiting to meet."

"They’ll probably be the sort of neighbours that will ask you not to breastfeed while sitting outside because they are offended," someone else wrote.

Then this person expressed: "Definitely NTA! You’re pregnant, and you’re relaxing in your own pool, in your own yard, wearing a normal swimsuit. F**k them. If it’s that big an issue for them, they can stay inside."

"Who the hell do they think you are to deny you the use of your own pool, especially when your heavily pregnant and miserable?" read another reply.

"How dare you have a body!" someone else wrote sarcastically.

And then this woman made the point, "If you were a shirtless man with a big belly floating in the pool, would they say anything? Likely not. Your neighbours are unreasonable."

"This is entirely a they problem, not a you problem. Next time they see you, ask them to stop ogling you from their deck as that makes you uncomfortable," another user concluded.
