“It does make me really sad to think that someone was living in here, but I can’t wait to make it look as good as I can,” Charlotte says in the video.

Charlotte is no stranger to mess. In fact, it’s what she loves. But it was a recent call she received that left her completely gobsmacked.

The Sydney resident, who runs her own cleaning company, recalled travelling an hour and a half to clean a house before it was put on the market.

She has since revealed how much it really costs to deep clean the hoarder’s home and why cleaners charge as much as they do.

Sydney cleaner shares how much it costs to clean trashed rental home

Cleaner defends charging $17,000 to clean hoarder’s house

Stepping inside the house, she was greeted by piles of clothing, empty plastic bottles, rubbish, cardboard boxes, plastic bags, scattered paper and toys on the floor.

It was so bad Charlotte struggled to see the floor beneath her feet.

The 20-year-old cleaner frequently shares the wild cleaning tasks she is handed, often taking hours to complete with her team.

“They want every single thing removed out of the home and cleaned - ready to sell,” she said in the clip.

“It’s really hard to see just how much stuff is in this house, but it’s a lot. I’m not going to gatekeep the price of professionally cleaning this hoarder’s home top to bottom.”

“It does make me really sad to think that someone was living in here, but I can’t wait to make it look as good as I can.”

Charlotte charged the homeowner $17,000 to clean the whole property, which she expects may take up to a week to complete and doesn’t include the back garden.

“So I’ve asked them for an upfront deposit of $3000 which will hopefully be able to cover my employees,” she explained.

“From there, they’re actually going to pay me after the sale of the house. So I’ve had a huge contract written up so that it’s all legal, and they will be paying $17,000 total - including the $3000 - after the sale of the house.”

“I don’t think you charged enough, that’s a massive job!”

As shared in her other popular videos, the Australian business owner frequently reveals how much she charges for her cleaning services, leaving some with their jaw on the ground.

Charlotte is the first to disagree, arguing it’s a “super affordable” and “fair price”, considering “everything that goes into all the planning and all the driving.”

Curious, she asked her followers how much they would charge the property owner if they were tasked with the cleanup. Some of the responses shocked her.

Some said they would charge a “minimum” of $20,000, whereas others suggested between $1,500-$2,500 per room.

The price she charged was “more than fair” considering the work she had to do, with some believing she was being “too generous” and underquoted the homeowner.

“I personally think $17k is not enough!” someone wrote. “That’s a massive job!”

Others agreed. “I’m not surprised, $17k seems like a lot of money, but that is a massive job, and the disposal fees would be very expensive,” read a comment.

“If I was in their position from what it looks like, that’s a really fair price. They are lucky to have you onboard.”

“Love seeing cleaners charge the correct price!” added another. “Too many people under quote, and then it makes it difficult for businesses.”

“I would have gone to $20k,” someone chimed in. “The value added to the property after you have done your work will be huge.”
