I won’t breastfeed my baby because I don’t want saggy boobs

"I actually have lots of reasons, and they would send 'breast is best' mums into a coma."

Mum didn't breastfeed to avoid saggy boobs

A young mum has attracted international attention for the controversial reasons why she won't breastfeed her baby.

Rebecca Gallivan, who has less than 2k TikTok followers, still managed to attract 400k views and almost $6k comments on her clip, "'Selfish' reasons I didn’t breastfeed, that would send 'breast is best mums' into a coma."

"The thought feels unnatural"

Rebecca admits in the clip that the thought of breastfeeding "made me feel weird and uncomfortable, it felt very unnatural even though it’s the most natural thing."

She also bluntly admits, "It grossed me out."

Her other reasons for not choosing to breastfeed include:

"No wanting my boobs to sag or look different to how they did before pregnancy," but added, "Not saying that mums who breastfeed have saggy boobs."

Rebecca also admitted she was nervous about doing "night feeds alone."

She concluded, "To put it simply, I never wanted to, and no, I don't care that all the reasons are only of benefit to me," obviously referring to information from numerous authorities, such as the World Health Organisation.

"Breastfeeding doesn't equal a good mother"

Because the mum revealed her personal reasons for not wanting to breastfeed - which are not commonly spoken aloud - the internet had a lot to say.

"Caring more about your breast shape than your kid’s health is wild to me. Don’t have kids if you can’t make sacrifices for them. Especially not vain and superficial ones," read one viewer's brutal response.

Others simply called the mum "selfish," with this mum adding, "It takes a strong woman to breastfeed. Some women never get the chance to. It’s a sacrifice but I would do it all again for my baby."

Another agreed, writing, "That poor baby."

The comments that didn't support Rebecca did not change her mind.

"Just your daily reminder that breastfeeding doesn’t [equal] a good mother," she captioned a subsequent post.

"My 'poor baby' is the healthiest, happiest little boy."
