Ever since the Kardashians' began having kids well over a decade ago, social media has been awash with images of extravagant kids parties that most of us could never dream of.
But back in the real world, it turns out that EXTRA kids parties really do exist and while they might not be quite Kardashian-level flashy, they can be lengthy, as one surprised mum found out.
“I just dropped my daughter to a SEVEN hour birthday party,” the former teacher and mum of two began in her clip to TikTok.
“Seven hours! From one until eight in the evening at somebody’s house. With 15 other second and third grade girls.”

“I asked the mum, are you sure?”
The mum, who says she has ADHD, shared that she checked with the party hosting family that 8pm was in fact the correct pick up time.
“I said to the mum, ‘are you sure?!’ And she said ‘Yep, 8pm’.
“I simply could not, I just could never…”
With well over 3,000 comments, it is clear that this viral post generated a big discussion.
Many of the commenters were inclined to agree with the mum that seven hours was far too long for a kids party, but most just wanted to know more.
“Desperately need a part two,” wrote one fellow mum.
“What was the party and how did she like it?”
“Invite my kids next time!”
After being inundated with questions about what could possibly take seven hours, the mum explained in a reply to a follower, exactly what the girls got up to.
And to be honest, it sounds like a whole lot of wholesome fun.
“The family has a GORGEOUS backyard. Hot tub, pool, zip line, lots of grass for activities. It was mostly outdoors, but some fun inside activities too.”
“Girl… invite my kids next time!” responded one user following on from the description.
Other viewers were intrigued by the concept, but concerned about the late finish..
“Is nap time included LOL,” asked one.
Another quipped, “This is amazing! My only hesitation would be the 8pm pick up. I'm usually in bed by 8pm.”
According to one parent who lives in Hawaii, ‘all day birthday parties’ are a thing there, and many others commented that longer daytime parties like this are a good and less tiring alternative to a sleepover.
In fact they have a name, 'a sleep-under'.
While most of the comments were in agreement with the overwhelmed mum who explained that as an "autistic ADHD mother" she could not host this kind of celebration, some parents were up for it.
"Honestly most of our parties are like that," wrote one party-loving mum. "We just put a start time and everyone leaves when it works for them!"
