I don’t send my daughters to school because it’s a prison

"A child sits in a classroom for eight hours a day to be told not to speak to the person that sits next to them," the mum said.

Why I pulled my duaghters out of school

A mother-of-two has shared that her primary-school-aged daughters are no longer enrolled at school because she believes formal education is "like a prison."

Cassyanne Clark took to TikTok to explain the reasoning behind removing her kids, Bug and Bunny, from school, saying she doesn't like the concept of classrooms or the national curriculum.

"I do think the school is a prison," she boldly stated.

"A child sits in a classroom for eight hours a day to be told not to speak to the person that sits next to them.

"To be told to put their hand up. To be told no you can't go to the toilet. They get one hour a day in sunlight."

Clark went on, "I think personally that a child would learn more from the outside world [rather than] sitting in a classroom learning about things they will never use again."

"You can Google everything"

Instead, she chooses to spend around $950/month on private weekly tutoring for her kids for part of the week. The rest of the week, the mum says, is spent making new memories and learning practical life lessons.

They might spend one day learning how to cook from scratch with their grandma and another swimming in the local pool.

She says this creates a better, more well-rounded quality of life for her youngsters.

"Apart from knowing times tables, anything else - Algebra, etc - you can Google or do on a calculator," she justified in the clip, which now has over 500k views.

"I think it's about common sense. It's about learning off other people. I am one for reading books and studying and hopefully my girls will follow suit.

"I think teaching a child to jump on an aeroplane and travel the world is more important than sitting a child in a classroom."

She then boasts that she has multiple businesses without completing year 12, "so it just goes to show that you don't need that."

The mum also mentioned that this home-schooling arrangement allows the family to spend more quality time together.

"Whilst my girls still have me living and breathing, they can have me every day because one day I am not going to be here," she said.

"LOVE THIS"

People responded to the comments in praise of the mum.

"Schools are the biggest fail!!! They don’t learn or teach from any of it! Couldn’t agree anymore!" wrote one.

A second replied: "Mine are year four and five. I took them out last year and never looking back!"

"This is so much better learning actual things we will need," a third penned.

"It’s definitely much better for the child’s mental health," another mum claimed.

''ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!!!! I really do think I’m gonna do the same. Your[sic] an amazing mum," a different viewer responded.

However, not everyone was on board, with one saying, "I love this... but also my mum allowed me to drop out of education after my year 10 exams. I wish she didn't."
