The thoughtful apology basket

The mum, Nique, who posts as @afrolatina93, shared a clip to TikTok with the caption, "I always tell my kids that you never know what a person is going through at home and what they have to deal with every day.

"You are to always be kind to everyone because how you treat someone can impact their mental health! Not only that but everything you have can be taken away just as fast as you received it! Humble yourself!"

Then in the video, we see her primary-school-aged daughter wandering around Target picking up various items.

The text over the top reads: "POV: Your child decided to be a follower and bully another kid today knowing you hate bullies! This is how we apologise in our household."

At the end of the clip, we see Nique and her daughter putting together a care package or an 'apology basket' for the bullied child.

It includes things like a notebook, a jewellery-making kit, snacks, a facemask, a stuffed animal and a hand-written note.

The note reads: "I'm sorry for being mean to you and talking about your hair. You are a wonderful friend to me so I apologise for that."

To top things off, they added a Krispy Kreme voucher, a balloon and some flowers.

"This warms my heart"

Thousands of people praised the mum for the thoughtful idea, with one saying, "This warms my heart, as a girl who grew up getting bullied. More kids need to be raised like this."

"Bullying is one thing I won't tolerate. Love this," said another.

A third remarked, "We need more parents like you!! You didn’t make excuses for your child’s bad choice, but turned it into a learning opportunity for her!"

"Way to go mum. You are setting a great example," concluded a different viewer.

Then finally someone declared, "THIS IS PARENTING."
