The 28-year-old football star announced her retirement from the sport just six weeks ago, and is now focusing on her children and wife.

‘Just fantastic’: Australian girls 'being inspired' by the Matildas

Matildas star Larissa Crummer and her wife Jodi are expecting their third child.

“Our little family is growing and we couldn’t be happier,” the 28-year-old footballer posted on Instagram.

“Baby Crummer due November.”

The baby news comes on the heels of Larissa’s decision to retire from football six weeks ago.

“I’ve given 28 years to football,” she told a Norwegian publication at the time. “It’s time to switch it ‘round and be a good mum and be there for the family for once.

“It definitely wasn’t an easy decision.

“They have put me first for so long, now I think it is time that I finally put them first.

“With the two little ones being as young as they are, I’m missing a lot. I just can’t wait to be home and finally be part of the family again.”

Larissa’s baby post was full of comments of support and congratulations from former teammates and other football players.

“Congrats!!” wrote Isobel Dalton, while Shea Connors wrote, “So happy for you guys”.

“Literally the happiest part of my day when I got told,” said a friend. “So happy for you both.”

Larissa started playing football with the Young Matildas at age 14 and a year later became involved with the Matildas.

In 2019, she suffered a devastating broken leg during a match between her team, the Newcastle Jets, and Adelaide United. “I just remember running after the ball and then hearing a big snap,” she said.

The excruciating bone break took 14 months of intensive rehabilitation to heal, and eventually the determined player was back on the pitch.

In 2023, Larissa married her partner Jodi. In the same year she signed with Norwegian team SK Brann and played with the team in the 2024 Champions League quarterfinals. After the team lost to Barcelona, Larissa made the announcement that she was moving home to Australia to focus on family.
