The Olympic swimming hero and cricket star say they “couldn’t be happier” with their big news.

Sporting power couple Madi Wilson and Matt Short “couldn’t be happier” after welcoming their first child together.

The Olympic gold medallist and Adelaide Strikers star announced the arrival of baby boy Austin Wilson Short, who came into the world late on Monday night, weighing a healthy 3.46kg.

“Our little Aussie is here and we couldn’t be happier,” the happy couple captioned a series of photos on social media.

The new parents were inundated with messages of congratulations from family and friends, including Wilson’s superstar swimming teammate Ariarne Titmus, and cricket players such as Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch and Peter Siddle.

The Adelaide-based couple announced their engagement in October last year, and then in February revealed they were expecting their first child.

Wilson, who previously dated swimmer Kyle Chalmers, has won two gold medals as a member of the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team, at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

A two-time Olympic gold medallist in Australia’s dominant women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team, Wilson previously dated Kyle Chalmers earlier in her career.

Strikers superbat Short was a travelling reserve during Australia’s T20 World Cup campaign, and then stayed in the US to play Major League Cricket before playing in England’s The Hundred competition.
