'Never again': Aussie user blasts little-known Uber Eats 'fee'
“Still can't quite compute their maths.”
One thing Uber Eats users will never get over is the amount you’re charged in fees. Priority delivery, service fees, delivery fees, the list goes on.
But, maybe it’s for the best when that’s all you get back in the event of a cancellation.
One Sydney Uber user has taken to social media to complain after their order cancellation ended in disappointment. But, there may be no solution after all.

“I’m finally done”
A Sydney local has taken to Reddit after a disappointing end to their Uber Eats order.
“I’m finally done. Never again,” they started the post.
The poster said that the order went through multiple delivery people, leading them to ultimately make the decision to cancel.
“After losing multiple delivery people before they even got to the pickup, I decided to try to cancel the order,” they shared.
But, little did they know, they wouldn’t get even half of their money back.
“Uber decided they would keep $77 of the $87 order in ‘cancellation fees’,” they said.
“It wasn’t food, it was boxed items that could be put back on a shelf so there was no loss involved by the merchant.
“Still can't quite compute their maths either.”

People were divided
Many commenters on the post said that this was completely unacceptable, saying they’ve stopped using Uber altogether for reasons like this.
“Jeez, I’m glad I stopped using them!” one person said.
“Yeh just don’t use them they are shit,” another agreed.
“I haven’t used it for nearly 2 years. It’s a rip off,” said a third.
Others, despite agreeing the ‘refund’ seemed unreasonable, encouraged the user to contact Uber’s support team.
“The service itself and the costs are not great, if you go to effort to complain further, they are generally quite good. You can probably get your money back,” one commenter suggested.
“Uber support has always been quick to fix things up for me. Never had an issue that wasn't resolved tbh. Probably the worst outcome I've had is a partial refund instead of a full one,” another agreed.
“Customers may be charged up to the full value of the items ordered”
Unfortunately for the user, this result may be unlikely.
An Uber spokesperson confirmed to Kidspot that under Uber Eats’ cancellation policy, it is standard to be charged for your full order - and this person might even be lucky they didn’t lose all their money.
“Under Uber Eats’ cancellation policy, if an order is cancelled two minutes or more after being accepted by the merchant, customers may be charged up to the full value of the items ordered,” the spokesperson told Kidspot.
“Where delivery has already commenced, the full cost of delivery services may also apply.”
