Nathan Cleary, Mary Fowler recharge batteries on Gold Coast

Matildas striker Mary Fowler and her NRL champion boyfriend Nathan Cleary have ‘recharged their batteries’ together on a Gold Coast holiday.

Matildas star Mary Fowler and her NRL superstar boyfriend Nathan Cleary have shared a holiday on Queensland’s Gold Coast, posting photos on social media.

The Panthers ace took to Instagram this week to share a number of photos showing the sporting power couple at Burleigh Heads enjoying their rare time together.

Fresh off a fourth consecutive premiership in October, Cleary joined Fowler in Europe, posting multiple snaps of their holiday travelling around the UK and from beachy getaway in Mallorca. The Gold Coast was their latest destination.

Cleary’s Instagram post shows the couple enjoying a dog walk, and taking in the views from Burleigh headland.

The post, captioned, “Charging the Batteries” featured a comment from Fowler saying “Hi handsome” followed by a love letter emoji.

Cleary has gone under the knife for a niggling shoulder injury, and it’s expected to be three to four months before the Origin and Kangaroos star returns to full training.

But he has shown signs of gradually upping his training load.

Fowler, who plays for Manchester City, scored a consolation goal from the penalty spot in her side’s 2-1 WSL loss to Everton on Sunday.

Fowler spends the majority of the year away from the Penrith champion in Australia, but her decision to take some time off appears to have worked wonders, returning to form for her club.

Fowler said she made the decision to rule herself out of national squad selection to focus on her mental and physical wellbeing after a busy start to the 2024-25 season.

City will be back in action on Wednesday night, travelling to Barcelona in the Champions League before the winter break.

Cleary and the Penrith Panthers kick-off their title defence in the NRL’s four-match blockbuster in Las Vegas in March against the Cronulla Sharks.
