"Is it already cooked?" one commenter asked after seeing the shocking post.

A Sydney woman was shocked to discover that the ALDI mince she had bought, despite being within its expiry date, had taken on a worrying brown colour.

The concerned shopper took to the ALDI Mums Facebook group to share her discovery and ask for opinions on the meat's safety, triggering a range of responses.

"Doesn't look a good colour"

The post, which was accompanied by a photo of the discoloured mince, read, "Would you say this meat is off? It doesn’t look a good colour and is still in expiry."

The product is the '500g 5 Star Jindurra Station Beef Mince', and the use-by date reads 11.05.24.

"If in doubt, THROW IT OUT!!"

One user quipped, "I can smell that through my phone."

"I'm literally gagging looking at that," claimed a different viewer.

Then another person said, "I personally wouldn’t eat it," while another shared their decision to avoid ALDI’s meat altogether: "I stopped buying meat at ALDI this year. The amount of rotten meat we would buy well within the expiry date was actually beyond a joke. It’s such poor-grade meat, too, particularly the mince. We go to butchers for our meat now, the quality is unmatched and actually not that much more expensive."

However, someone else touched on an apparent common misconception: "Meat is red because of the dyes they put in it. If you buy organic meat it's never anything like grocery store meats."

Someone else replied, agreeing: "Red meat without red dye will turn a bit brown due to oxygen, if it doesn’t smell off, break the meat apart and it will still be red on the inside and safe to eat."

Finally, someone shared this saying, "If in doubt, THROW IT OUT!!"

What do you reckon? Eat or chuck?
