Designer drug 'pink cocaine' found in Liam Payne’s toxicology report

One Direction star Liam Payne's toxicology report has revealed traces of designer drug 'pink cocaine', along with benzodiazepine and crack cocaine in his system.

The results of Liam Payne’s toxicology report have been released following the singer’s tragic death in Argentina last week. 

Initial reports suggested the One Direction star was under the influence of drugs and alcohol shortly before falling from his third-story hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

Though prosecutor Marcelo Roma announced on Monday that cocaine had been found in the 31-year-old’s system after testing, ABC News has revealed that several substances were also present, including ‘pink cocaine’.

What is pink cocaine? 

Known as a designer drug, the pink powder is a cocktail of drugs including ketamine, MDMA and methamphetamine. 

Post-mortem tests also reportedly found traces of benzodiazepine and crack cocaine in his system.

An aluminium pipe presumed to be used for the consumption of the drugs was also located in the ex-One Direction member’s trashed hotel room. 

Authorities believe the singer was alone and may have been semi-conscious or completely unconscious at the time of the fall.

He is thought to have suffered from a mental health episode shortly before.

Hotel staff investigated

Two members of staff from the CasaSur in Palermo hotel are being investigated for allegedly supplying drugs to the singer. 

The Daily Mail reported a cleaner and another member of staff hid drugs inside of a Dove Soap box that was found by detectives in the star’s room. 

Investigators are testing traces of what is thought to be crack cocaine found inside of the box.

Family attempting to repatriate star 

Payne leaves behind a 7-year-old son, Bear, girlfriend Kate Cassidy, and a loving family.

His father, Geoff Payne, has travelled to Buenos Aires to arrange for his son’s body to be returned to the UK. 

He has spoken with fans gathered outside of the hotel, joining them for a minute of silence to remember the star.

Photos have been released showing him standing on the third-floor balcony from which Liam fell. 

Tributes for the singer continue to roll in, and his former bandmate Zayn Malik has postponed his US tour, citing the ‘heartbreaking loss’.
