Last day to send presents overseas before Christmas revealed

Australia Post has issued an urgent warning to customers as the festive season fast approaches.

Australia Post has announced the latest dates that Christmas presents and cards need to be sent overseas if they are to reach their destination in time for the festive season.

Some popular destinations such as China, South Africa, and Sri Lanka require parcels and letters to be sent in as early as November 14 if they’re to be delivered by Christmas.

For those wanting to send parcels and letters to the UK, you’ll have to get them in the mail by December 2 for standard post and November 21 for economy air.

If you‘re sending parcels to America, you’ll have a deadline of November 28 for standard post and November 21 for economy air.

Parcels and letters being sent to New Zealand will have to be posted by December 2 for standard post and November 25 for economy air.

If you‘re trying to send packages and letters to China, you’ll have to get them in the mail by November 21 for standard post and November 14 for economy air.

Australians are urged to get on top of their Christmas shopping if they want to have presents delivered on time.

For those who aren‘t as organised with the festive season, the latest date you can send presents to popular destinations like the US, UK, New Zealand and Canada is December 9 if posted via international express.

Australia Post is yet to announce what the last sending dates for posting interstate are.

Customers who are looking for a specific country‘s last sending dates are encouraged to visit Australia Post’s website for more information, according to executive general manager Gary Starr.

“We know our last sending dates provide an important guide for people in the lead-up to Christmas and we’ve been preparing all year for another busy peak season to ensure things run as smoothly as possible,” Mr Starr said.

“For anyone who wants to send internationally for Christmas this year, we’re encouraging them to visit our website and post by the dates advised.

“As always, we’ll continue to deliver items sent after these dates as quickly as possible, but they may not arrive until after Christmas.”
