Kmart spreads Y2K nostalgia with this new product

At just $8, it's likely cheaper than the one you had growing up!

It’s official - the ‘90s and early 2000s are back and here to stay, at least for a little while.

If you’ve got your outfit and accessories sorted with a pair of low-rise jeans and some butterfly clips, maybe it’s time to look to homewares next, and Kmart has well and truly got you sorted with this iconic pick.

“The early 2000s are back!”

Aussie TikTok creator @riccy_ricardo has taken to the platform to share his nostalgic Kmart find - and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

“Guys, the early 2000s are back with inflatable chairs!” he said in the video.

In the video, he shows Kmart’s new Single Inflatable Chair, described on the site as being ‘perfect for comfortable lounging at your campsite or backyard’.

The product retails for just $8, and comes in both pink and blue shades.

“Memories”

Some people weren’t so happy about seeing the chairs back in stores, recalling childhoods full of slippery sweat in summer.

“honestly, imagine the struggle of trying to get out of one of those in your 30's” one commenter said.

“bahahaha just in time for summer.. the stick, the sweat…” said another.

“Noooo. Do we remember how sweaty these are in summer. What is going on,” a third agreed.

“NO NO NO! Why haven’t they learnt from our mistakes?” another said.

However, others loved the nostalgia, and couldn’t wait to pick one up for themselves - or for their little ones.

“Oooo yay. Said to my kid last year we had inflatable chairs and they would be perfect to store his plushies in. Now he can do that!” one commenter said.

“Takes me back to primary school when I said that my house when I moved out would be entirely inflatable furniture 😂” said another.

“ahh my first chairs after I moved out…” another said.

“STOP IT!!!!! Aaagghhhh memories 🥰” a fourth said.

Some even said they’d like Kmart to continue the range, with options including arm rests, and matching inflatable back packs.

Back to the ‘80s

It looks like these ideas aren’t entirely off the cards, with Kmart recently expanding into other nostalgic items like ‘80s jelly sandals.

Kmart took to Instagram earlier in the summer to share that they were bringing back the old classic.

“Jelly sandals are back for summer ☀️” the post was captioned.

The shoes, on the Kmart website as Fisherman Jelly Sandals, retail for just $8, and come in clear, black and jelly pink.

Just like the inflatable chairs, response was definitely mixed - but nostalgia is always welcome.

“Omg this takes me back 30 years 😂 😍🙌,” one commenter said.

“Aaand… it’s summer 1985 all over again 😅😍,” said another.

“Is it 2004 in here or,” a third added.
