Kmart fans rave about $10 shoe dupe, but there's one 'embarrassing' problem

There's always a reason for that budget price-tag...

$7 Kmart solution to messy shoes in wardrobe

If you're like me, you've definitely fallen into the trap of buying shoes from Kmart.

It always seems like a good idea at the time because they're so cheap, so how could we say no?

Then, after a few wears, we realise that there's a very good reason for the budget pricetag — the quality is complete sh*te, of course.

This happened to me last year when I came across a dupe of a popular pair of black sandals from DISSH, and they were something like $15 from Kmart.

Cut to the following Monday, and I was strutting into the office, proud of my find, when I noticed a weird squeaky noise that I could only describe as 'farty'.

The cheap, rubbery material was slapping against my bare soles, and even though I knew what it was, I was still mortified.

I quickly sat down at my desk and tried to tip-toe around the whole day, vowing never to wear them to work again.

The 'awkward' shoe problem

And it turns out I'm not the only one with this problem.

As Kmart has re-launched its $10 Birkenstock dupe again this year ahead of summer, shoppers have taken to social media to rant about the exact same issue.

"I have a pair of these sandals and they make a noise when I walk," one person wrote in a Kmart fan Facebook group.

"Does anyone have the same problem and how can I stop it?"

"The return of the fart shoes"

"Mine did the same when I first bought them last summer the squeak eventually went away," one customer replied.

"They are comfy but farting shoes, I just say 'it wasnt me!' and keep walking lol," a second joked.

"Omigosh, the return of the fart shoes," a third giggled.

"You would think after all these years that Kmart would have gotten onto the manufacturer and perhaps rectified this," another user pointed out.

How do you fix it?

However, there were a few people who shared simple solutions to the issue.

"Push some little holes in the arch, I just use scissors. If it still makes noise you haven’t done enough. Works a treat," one person revealed.

"I have heard you put pinholes in the soles," another echoed.

And another group member suggested dusting some talcum powder on the shoes.

So, could these tips help end the fart shoes for good? We'll have to test them out and get back to you...
