'I look like Steve Irwin': Mum's hilarious Cotton On shopping fail goes viral

"Get me a croc to wrangle," she jokes after admitting that she didn't pull off the outfit like she had hoped in her head. 

A mum has taken to TikTok to document her hilarious shopping fail after going on the hunt for the perfect matching linen set for summer. 

Mum-of-four, Rose Oats, thought she had finally found the perfect ensemble, but quickly realised that she looked more like an unofficial Irwin sibling than a chic and stylish fashionista.

"Get me a croc to wrangle!"

In the clip, which now has 90k views, she took her followers into the Cotton On change rooms as she tried on the Haven short-sleeve shirt ($39.99) and matching shorts ($29.99).

While the website lists the colour of the set as "mild taupe", it definitely looks more like khaki when worn, leaving Rose in fits of laughter.

"Okay, I saw this set on a few girls and I thought, oh my God, it looks so cute on them, I have to go try it on," she narrates while filming herself wearing the outfit in the mirror. 

She continues, "But I look like Steve bloody Irwin, God bless his soul, God love him, but crikey mate, I am not fitting the vibe check."

She then continues to laugh at herself and the epic fashion fail and jokes, "Get me a croc to wrangle!"

Rose's followers joined in on the fun in the comments, with one person pointing out, "It’s the wrong shade of neutral, they went straight to 'Irwin beige' instead of 'cute girly beige'."

Another remarked, "It's giving: land down under."

And a third joked, "Ready to apply for a job at Australia Zoo."

Then this person said they had a similar experience, "I tried this on and when I handed it back, the girl said, "Didn't like the Bindi vibes?"

Some people actually liked the look though, and said, "You look lovely," and, "I actually think it suits you."

But others told Rose it would be best if she bought the set in another colour.
