Holiday-starved Queenslanders who are fully vaccinated will be able to enjoy quarantine-free international travel to Fiji again for the first time in over 22 months from tomorrow.
And the island nation is offering discounts of up to 70 per cent to try and lure Queenslanders across the Pacific.
Fiji Airways has announced it will be the first airline to resume commercial flights from Brisbane to Fiji from Sunday.
The first takeoff to the island since March 2020 will come little more than 24 hours after international travellers to Queensland started arriving on Saturday into the Brisbane International airport without needing to go into quarantine.
The Fiji Airways launch will include up to five flights per week from Brisbane Airport to Nadi, Fiji until March 2022, changing to daily flights from April onwards.
“Fiji Airways will be the first, and currently only airline, to recommence commercial flights between Brisbane and Fiji in nearly two years,” Fiji Airways Managing Director & CEO Andre Viljoen said.
“We are so excited to finally welcome our friends from Queensland back on board our state of the art aircraft and safely transport them to a well-deserved holiday in Fijian paradise.
“Our entire workforce is fully vaccinated and we have implemented an award-winning Travel Ready program dedicated to the safety and wellness of our guests and staff.”

Fiji Airways are offering deals of up to 70 per cent off holiday packages including five nights per person at the Five Star Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa in February & March starting from just $999 AUD including return flights with Fiji Airways, 5 nights’ accommodation, breakfast, transfers and more.
Holiday packages at the Shangri-La Fiji Resort start from $999 AUD per person including return flights with Fiji Airways, 4 nights’ accommodation, all meals, transfers and more.
Fiji Airways return flight prices start from just $549 AUD per person economy class (discounted to $519 AUD if booked before January 24), and $1,555 per person business class.
All arriving travellers to Fiji must be fully vaccinated, present evidence of a negative RT-PCR test 48-hours prior to boarding, download the CareFiji App prior to travelling and complete an additional rapid test at their resort in Fiji, 24-hours after arrival.
At check-in, travellers must present proof of at least 3 nights minimum prepaid accommodation with a Care Fiji Commitment (CFC) certified hotel or resort, with a CFC certified transfer from the airport.
