The house on a deserted island that comes with no bathroom

It doesn’t have car access or even a bathroom, but this one-bedroom house does come with a unique selling point.

What do young adults think about housing affordability?

A price of $459,000 might seem steep for a one-bedroom home with no bathroom and no car access, but this property does come with one unique extra.

Built in 2009, this house in Wohoa Bay, Maine, USA, comes with its own deserted island.

It has no neighbours – unless you count the seals that sun themselves around the island’s perimeter – and it also boasts uninterrupted views out to the Atlantic Ocean.

The cosy cottage is just 50sq m big and sits on Duck Ledges Island, which itself is only 6000sq m.

The house sits just metres from the water’s edge on either side.

The listing states: “There is no better place to spend the weekend in the world.

“The ledges surrounding the island are loaded with seals for constant entertainment.

“Good anchorage and good landing points at any tide.

“Mooring included adjacent the island and just a short boat ride from Jonesport public marina or Addison facility.”

The property is similar to a property found on the smallest inhabited island in the world on Just Room Enough Island, on the US-Canadian border.

Officially part of New York State in the US, the island is in the middle of the Saint Lawrence River on the border with Canada. It is just 300sq m.

The aptly named island has just enough room for its single property, and was purchased in the 1950s by the Sizeland family as a holiday home.

Despite its small size, the island also has a tree, shrubs and even a small beach to soak up the sun.
