Snakes caught on camera shedding their skin in Brisbane

AS BRISBANE’S weather finally cools snakes should begin to hibernate, but not before causing some residents a double-take.

Scrub Python Slowly Sheds Its Skin for the Camera

SNAKES are shedding their skin around the Brisbane area as the weather cools after an extended summer.

Snakeskins have been captured on camera by Brisbane snake owner Scott Kickham (above) and a Kenmore resident (below).

The most recent sighting was the 3m snakeskin left by a reptile in a Kenmore back yard.

Snakes shed their skin several times a year, depending on their growth rate. Younger snakes will shed more often than older snakes due to their more rapid growth.
