Well the solution is now at hand thanks to eBay seller mightys0x.

He is auctioning off a suit of guinea pig scale-mail.

Naturally, the helmet is not required on a jet ski...

It was handmade by the seller "in an effort to better prepare my guinea pig Lucky for the dangers of the modern world''.

"This handmade scale-mail and tiny steel helmet will keep you guinea pig protected and secure in all situations," the auction blurb promises.

But be warned - a fine suit of armour like this one doesn't come cheap.

At the time of writing bidding had rocketed to an incredible $US20,000.

Mightys0x intends to donate all proceeds to charity.

Sadly, 'Lucky' has since passed away

The Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue in Virginia will be the lucky recipient when the auction finishes on June 21.

Unfortunately for Lucky, he won't be around to enjoy the windfall.
