All rescue dogs are deserving of a second chance at finding a happy home, but a call-out on behalf of an old girl named Dumpling has melted hearts on social media.
The not-for-profit organisation Labrador Rescue yesterday shared a post about the Gold Coast-based dog in a bid to find her a new forever family.
Dumpling, who’s totally blind after having her eyes removed due to illness, had a rough start to life and was dumped at a local pound when she was 10.
It was clear she’d had a number of litters of puppies, the group said.
She was quite overweight when taken in by Labrador Rescue but has since shed a whopping 13kg, which has helped to turn her life around.
In the Facebook post, which has since gone viral and attracted thousands of comments, Dumpling is described as “extremely sweet, charming and good natured”.
“I don’t need much in life – just a nice warm home in which to enjoy my last few years,” the post reads.
Dumpling shares her current foster home with cats and another dog and gets along well with them – that is, provided they don’t get right in her face as it gives her a fright, according to the post.
Unsurprisingly, Dumpling’s plight has melted hearts online.
“She deserves to live out her years in peace and be loved unconditionally – thank you for caring for her,” one of the 4500 comments read.
Another said: “You are absolutely beautiful Dumpling. I am sure you won’t have to wait too long to find a beautiful family who will adore you.”
Anyone interested in adopting Dumpling should complete an application on the Labrador Rescue website
