Hamilton, Brisbane: Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda tours city ahead of QPAC cameo

Theatre royalty touched down in Brisbane on Saturday, as renowned Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda toured the city, visiting one very famous River City “celebrity”, and having a taste of vegemite.

Bringing Hamilton to Australia was 'the one shining light' through COVID-19

Theatre royalty touched down in Brisbane on Saturday, as renowned Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda announced to the social media world that he was officially on Australia soil – and eating vegemite.

Miranda flew in from the US to see the Australian production of his hit hip-hop musical for the first time tonight at QPAC.

His highly-anticipated arrival was confirmed after he posted a photo of the Inner City Bypass sign with the caption “Gday Brisbane,” followed by a photo of a mini vegemite jar.

Next to vegemite, the multi-talented producer and performer was baffled to discover a perhaps not-so-Aussie product, a ready-to-drink Berocca.

Posting to his Instagram story, Miranda said “Y’all wild,” declaring his new appreciation for the quick energy release tablet that drops into the bottle upon unscrewing the cap.

The Hamilton creator then dropped by the Bluey headquarters to catch up with his fellow cast mates, providing his followers with some behind-the-scenes tour snippets and snapshots.

Miranda guest stars on the beloved Australian cartoon show as the horse ‘Major Tom’.

He later shared his appreciation for the “brilliant and funny people” behind the Bluey series on Instagram, saying he was “floating like a balloon” after the visit.

It had been rumoured Miranda, who has starred in the leading role of his musical on Broadway, might come to Brisbane as earlier visits to Sydney and Melbourne had been rendered impossible due to Covid.

But the Hamilton fan world went into meltdown when it was announced that he would be here for a weekend in what is expected to turn into a kind of festival of Lin-Manuel Miranda.
