Yet another iconic US chain to open in Australia
Another iconic US food chain is coming to Australia, following the success of venues such as Wendy’s, Wingstop and Aunty Anne’s.
It’s a good day for egg sandwich fans.
Another popular US food chain is following in the footsteps of iconic venues such as Wendy’s, Wingstop and Aunty Anne’s, with a location in Australia.
Eggslut, a Los Angeles-founded restaurant chain, will open at Crown Perth as Burgers by ES in February.
It’s part of the Urban Food District, a food hall inside the luxury hotel, that’s set to open early next year.
The food hall is the biggest investment into the Crown Perth in the last decade and will see a dozen new dining, beverage and entertainment venues in the building.

Eggslut started as a food truck in Los Angeles in 2011 and now has locations in Las Vegas, Seattle, London and Tokyo.
For anyone who has never heard of Eggslut, the fan-favourite brand with an international following specialises in gourmet egg sandwiches and burgers.
The Australian menu will include staples such as Gaucho, which features wagyu tri-tip, chimichurri sauces, rocket and, of course, an egg on a brioche bun.
It will also have the infamous Fairfax sandwich, which features eggs, cheese, chives, onion and sriracha mayonnaise.
“From our humble LA food truck beginnings to now, we’ve always believed that a simple ingredient cooked thoughtfully can create memorable moments,” said Andy Lee, the co-founder of Eggslut.

“This opening is a celebration of that — good burgers and eggs, bold flavour, and a whole new breakfast-and-beyond experience for Australia.”
Brian Pereira, Crown Perth’s CEO, said the business was delighted to bring a new international concept to guests while showcasing local vendors.
Social media users were excited by the news.
“How exciting! There’s nothing like new dining and entertainment experiences. Looking forward to discovering these new spaces,” one said.
Another said: “This sounds amazing.”
“Yayyy! An extra reason to come stay,” one said.
Another added: “This is fantastic news!”
It’s unclear why the business won’t be using the name Eggslut. However in 2018 former soldier Peter Coster sought to overturn a decision by the corporate regulator to block him from registering the business name “Eggslut” — not associated with the popular US version — on the grounds it was “undesirable”.
Mr Coster, who has already trademarked the term in Australia, said he first got the idea for the name when he realised some patrons at a cafe in the Brisbane suburb of Lutwyche referred to the establishment as “eggslut”, as in “eggs-Lutwyche”.
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal upheld the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s decision to not allow the name.
