Coffee and Lindt balls make magic

Coffee is glorious just on its own but if you add an iconic supermarket staple, your daily dose of caffeine takes on a whole new life. Check out the secret twist here.

Espresso martini baked cheesecake

Lindt Lindor balls are “your moment of bliss”, according to the Lindt Master Chocolatiers. And we have to agree that they are pretty special, with that creamy Swiss chocolate exterior and velvety smooth filling.

We love them so much that we’ve literally baked them into some of our favourite desserts in the past (our absolute favourite being these mini choc-mint cheesecakes).

But recently, our Food Director Amira Georgy wondered if Lindor balls would also work in… drinks?

During this lightbulb moment, she just happened to be reviewing out a new coffee machine in the Taste Test Kitchen… and so our Lindt ball coffees were born.

Amira used three different flavour Lindors (hazelnut, white chocolate and salted caramel aka the best ones) in three different types of coffee and we think she might just have found the best hot drink hacks on the planet.

Here they are:

Lindt ball white chocolate latte

So what do Lindt ball coffees taste like?

Let’s start with the Lindt ball hazelnut espresso – this one is perfect for our coffee-drinking friends who love the rich, nutty flavours of hazelnut. It starts with a single Lindt hazelnut chocolate ball which is then stirred with two shots of espresso, and topped with whipped cream and hazelnuts.

The Lindt ball white chocolate latte is a sweeter and milkier moment of bliss. Our research (okay, okay – our Facebook polls) show us that people either adore white chocolate or despise it. We think that this indulgent latte may change the haters’ minds! The mix of an espresso shot, a Lindt Lindor white chocolate ball and frothy milk turns any regular latte into the ultimate indulgence.

Last, but definitely not least, we have the Lindt ball salted caramel cappuccino. Salted caramel is a perfect flavour profile match for the bitter notes of your favourite espresso brew. The salty tang combines with a sugary sweetness in the Lindt Lindor salted caramel ball and is blended perfectly with the gorgeously bitter espresso.

Are these ‘Lindt ball coffees’ considered mochas?

Whether you call it a cafe mocha, a mocha latte or a mochaccino, there’s no denying the popularity of the delicious, chocolate-infused coffee. A mocha coffee sticks to the ratio of one-third espresso and two-thirds steamed milk but will either add a layer of chocolate syrup or a spoonful of drinking chocolate.
