Easter 2025: What’s open and closed across Australia this Easter long weekend

Here’s what shops are open and shut for the Easter long weekend – just in time for last-minute chocolates and hot cross buns.

As the Easter long weekend comes closer, as does the panic to get to the shops or last-minute chocolate and hot cross buns before they temporarily close their doors.

Here is a comprehensive list of the stores that are open and shut during the Easter long weekend, from Good Friday on April 18 to Easter Monday on April 21.
What is open Good Friday?
Those keen to get last-minute shopping done before the weekend will have to prepare ahead of time, as most supermarkets and shops will be shut for Good Friday.

Woolworths confirmed it would be closing the doors of the majority of its supermarkets across Australia.

There are a handful of Woolies that will remain open, including Brisbane Airport in Queensland, Dunsborough, Perth Airport, Eaton Fair, Margaret River, Busselton, and Dalyellup in Western Australia and the Mount Barker, Mount Barker South, and Murray Bridge Marketplace Victor Harbor stores in South Australia.

Nationwide, Coles supermarkets will shut all of its doors on Good Friday.

Kmart and Target will also be closed on Good Friday nationwide.

All Bunnings stores will be closed on Good Friday, as will Aldi supermarkets and all Westfield stores.

What is open Easter Saturday?

All Woolworths supermarkets will re-open their doors on Easter Saturday across the country, though some Metro stores may remain closed.

Coles will resume as normal nationwide, though some stores may subjected to reduced trading hours on Easter Saturday.

All Bunnings stores will re-open as normal on Saturday nationwide.

Target and Kmart stores will re-open, with some shops operating at reduced trading hours.

Aldi supermarkets will also be open, though they may be operating at reduced trading hours depending on the location.

Westfield stores in WA, SA, Queensland and the ACT will be open.

In NSW and Victoria, stores will operate to different hours.

What is open Easter Sunday?

The majority of stores will be open on Easter Sunday across the country, though there are exceptions for certain states.

Coles will be open for most states, but will be closed for all South Australian stores, with the exception of Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Adelaide Rundle Place, Whyalla, Murray Bridge Green, Mount Gambier, Victor Harbor and Mount Barker.

Woolworths supermarkets will be open for Victoria, Tasmania, WA and Queensland, with the exception of Hervey Bay Pialba and Esperance.

A handful of Woolworths will be open in NSW, SA and the Northern Territory, but customers are encouraged to check their local store for updated trading hours.

Bunnings will re-open for Easter Sunday, though will operate under reduced trading hours in NSW as per NSW Easter trading restrictions.

All Aldi stores will be open in Victoria and Western Australia for Easter Sunday, though may remain closed in some stores in NSW, Queensland, the ACT and South Australia.

Kmart and Target stores will be open for all stores in most states, including Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, and WA, with the exception of Esperance.

Some Kmart and Targets stores will remain closed across NSW and South Australia – shoppers are encouraged to check their local shops for trading hours.

Westfield stores in the ACT, Victoria and WA will open. Queensland’s six stores will open with varied hours, and only Westfield Tuggerah will open in NSW, from 10am -5pm.

What is open Easter Monday?

Woolworths will reopen all of its stores nationwide on Easter Monday, with the exception of South Australia and the NT, which will have a handful of stores open.

Coles supermarkets will be open across the country, with some shops operating at reduced trading hours.

All stores in South Australia will be shut except for Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Adelaide Rundle Place, Whyalla, Murray Bridge Green, Mount Gambier, Victor Harbor, Mount Barker, and Berri.

All Bunnings stores will open their doors as normal on Easter Monday nationwide.

Aldi will also be open for the majority of states, but will remain closed for some stores in South Australia.

Westfield Kotara, Tuggerah, Eastgardens, Hornsby, Liverpool, Mt Druitt, Penrith and Warringah Mall are open 9AM - 5PM

Westfield Burwood, Chatswood, Miranda and Parramatta are open 9AM - 6PM

Westfield Bondi and Hurstville are open 9.30AM - 6PM

Westfield Sydney is open 9.30AM - 7PM

Easter Sunday (20 April):

Westfield Tuggerah is open 10AM - 5PM

All other Westfield destinations are closed

Easter Monday (21 April):
