Here are five places where you’re guaranteed to get a delicious Bahn Mi across southeast Queensland.
Scotts Road Takeaway Darra
If you ask just about any local where Brisbane’s best banh mi is, most will say you’ll find it in Darra. Of the six venues on the banh mi mecca that is Railway Parade, Scotts Road Takeaway is one of the originals and has consistently been ranked one of the best. It is located out on what might be considered a trek for some citysiders, surrounded by an industrial estate. But, cast aside your fine-dining snobbery and venture inside, among a swathe of tradies, office workers and locals alike, and your mind will be forever changed. Crusty rolls slathered in buttery pate, topped with perfectly crispy crackling pork, pickled carrots and fresh coriander, these buns are top notch.

Anna’s Banh Mi Co West End
All the foodies know that West End is where it’s at for authentic, quality multicultural dining, and Anna’s Banh Mi Co is an institution that is no exception. And, in keeping with the unspoken code of the West End dining scene, has an abundance of options for our vegan and vegetarian friends. Whether you are opting for the classics, such as the crispy pork, or marinated chicken, or something a little zestier, like pork rissoles, Vietnamese meatballs or even mock duck, diners can be sure their takeaway will be simply overflowing with fillings. While the prices here are a little steeper than its counterparts to the south, the size and quality is worth every cent.

Flourish Bakery Keperra
A relative newcomer to the scene, this divine little bakery in the quarryside inner northwest suburb of Keperra has established itself as a firm favourite for lovers of Vietnamese baked goodies. But those in the know will tell you Flourish Bakery’s banh mi are not to be missed. While many of the rolls are made fresh each morning and stored in a cool cabinet, the team at Flourish won’t hesitate to whip one up on request. The flavour combos are seemingly endless, from your classic crackling pork or lemongrass chicken to the more low key grilled pork or chicken options. Vegetarians are catered for, too, with the option of a tofu banh mi.

An Nam Vietnamese Kitchen Sippy Downs
An Nam Vietnamese Kitchen is the Sunshine Coast’s newest go-to banh mi spot, having opened just a few months ago
and already drawing a crowd of hungry fans. The menu at
this Sippy Downs spot goes above and beyond just banh mi, with a whole suite of Vietnamese bites, from pho
to noodle salads and everything in between. But word on
the street is their banh mi is one of the top in town. While
filling options here feature all the usual suspects, with
their crackling pork bun the most reached-for of all, one
unique standout is the Vietnamese-style golden omelette banh mi.

BM Corner Pimpama
This little store tucked away in Pimpama is more than just a favourite local haunt serving top-notch Vietnamese fare. It’s a true family enterprise – opened by a husband, wife and younger brother team – and has become a beloved community space since its opening late last year. While the range of fillings is limited, with just roast and grilled pork and grilled chicken, each is jam-packed with rich pate, creamy egg butter and the hallmark pickled carrots, cucumbers and chilli and coriander. And for those who are firmly in the camp of coriander haters or can’t handle a little spice, the team is always happy to accommodate requests.
