Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show proved to be a divisive performance, however eagle-eyed fans spotted a unique detail about his choice of clothing which they couldn’t ignore.

The rapper performed his Drake diss track Not Like Us live – while Drake’s ex-girlfriend, tennis champion Serena Williams, danced along to the song on stage.

But it was Kendrick’s baggy jeans that caught the most attention.

“WTH ??? This what all the girls wore in high school,” Nate Diaz, an American boxer, wrote on X.

Diaz wasn’t the only one with something to say about Lamar’s ensemble during the coveted gig.

“Why did Kendrick Lamar look like he borrowed his sisters jeans from 2009,” one social media user asked.

Another fan added: “Kendrick Lamar’s flares are one of his most Millennial traits tbh.”

“Kendrick Lamar’s jeans are ugly,” one simply declared.

One social media user posted: “I don’t like Kendrick Lamar much personally. But that was an entertaining performance. It would have been even better if you could understand every lyric and he wore something cooler than blue jeans.”

One viewer went so far to say it was a “pretty bad fit” and continued: “Ditch the bootcut jeans, I’m fed up.”

But many others praised Lamar’s ensemble, which also included a black T-shirt, a oversized blue bomber jacket and a chunky silver chain with the letter “A” on it.

“Hey now I rocked those boot cuts in high school,” one said.

Another social media user added: “Kendrick Lamar might be bringing back flared jeans on men oh god how I’ve PRAYED for times like these.”

One shared: “For real though, need the brand and style of Kendrick Lamar’s jeans. I couldn’t stop looking at them! I’m a flare jeans girly too, so these are up my alley!”

“I’m sorry but the jeans Kendrick Lamar wore for the halftime show was AMAZING lol he definitely rocked those jeans,” another social media user added.

One declared: “I can’t believe it’s Kendrick Lamar bringing back bootcut jeans.”

Before the 37-year-old took to the stage, there were rumours his performance would contain a huge surprise.

And it turned out, there were a couple: First came in the form of A-list actor Samuel L. Jackson, who made an appearance live in the stadium performing a few lines of dialogue a couple of times during Lamar’s set.

In a ‘meta’ touch, Jackson was there as an ‘Uncle Sam’-type hype man, chiding Lamar when he played newer material and encouraging him to stick to the hits.

Williams was another all-star cameo, appearing on stage briefly to skip along to the brutal Drake diss track Not Like Us.

Williams and Drake dated back in 2011, with the rapper even writing the song Too Good about her.
