‘Tacky, trashy’: Fury as guest flashes bra, undies at wedding

Aussies have claimed an influencer is “attention seeking” after wearing a completely see-through dress to a friend’s wedding.

An Australian influencer has reignited the age-old debate about wedding guest etiquette after attending a friend’s nuptials in a completely see-through dress.

Jade Yarbrough opted for a $1000 outfit from Australian brand Carla Zampatti as she witnessed her friends Anthony Bell and Annika Martyn tie-the-knot on the weekend.

Wearing white or anything that “distracts from the bride” has long been deemed “bad form” by etiquette experts as it’s seen as a deliberate move to sabotage or ruin the wedding.

Because of this, Yarbrough’s pale blue gown – which is sold in three pieces, a pair of $99 “full briefs”, a matching $399 “mesh bodysuit” and $499 statement skirt – has attracted criticism over its revealing nature.

Photos from the star-studded nuptials show the interior designer, who was filmed in a Noosa park stoush with her ex-Michael Clarke, had her lacy bra on full display in the gown.

The separate undies, an essential item in the 3-piece Zampatti set, were also visible under the pale blue mesh skirt.

Yarbrough, 33, finished her racy wedding-guest ensemble with a pair of pointed black heels and a mini clutch.

Fans were quick to commend the influencer, whose older sister is married to Today Show host Karl Stefanovic, labelling her outfit “insane”.

But others described the outfit as “awful”, and claimed it was “inappropriate”.

“Not appropriate and just trying to seek attention,” one wrote on Facebook.

“It’s tacky, trashy,” another raged.

And another described it as a “revolting grab for attention”.

On Instagram though, the comments on Yarbrough’s post were a lot more complimentary, with many stating she looked “stunning”.

“Oh my gosh that outfit! Absolute perfection,” one shared.

“Girl this dress,” another agreed.

Yarbrough is not the first star to ruffle feathers wearing the blue dress, with former MAFS contestant Jules Robinson wearing it to the 2024 Marie Claire Women of the Year Awards in Sydney on Wednesday.

Robinson she felt a “million bucks” in the see-through ensemble as she celebrated the “game-changing and trailblazing women who are driving real change in Australia”.

The 41-year-old appeared to wear a nude bodysuit under the racy gown in an attempt to make it less revealing.

However just like Yarbrough, it proved to be a divisive outfit among Robinson’s fans, with some flooding her comments section.

“Loved the colour of your dress but just didn’t like the see through style of the dress,” one commented.

“Beautiful lady but the dress is not up to your standards,” another claimed.

As one said: “Jules you’re very beautiful and I love that colour on you. But I can’t wait until the fashion of showing undies is over!”

Many said they “loved” the dress on Robinson, as others leapt to her defence, writing: “I find it so interesting that so many women felt that they could comment their opinions on your dress.”
