Sydney ‘it girl’ launches Coachella-inspired jewellery collection

She’s out almost every night in Sydney, and now she’s been spotted with a slew of famous friends.

Emma Pillemer is a woman about town in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, earning her the title of the city’s newest ‘it girl’.

“I’m a sociable person, so I guess that’s where people get the label from. I’m always dressing up, socialising, and embracing new experiences, so I guess people are interested in what I’m up to,” she tells news.com.au.

“I enjoy dressing up for myself, it’s one of the reasons I go out so often — to wear my jewellery and feel hot.

“I love feeling good and confident.”

When describing her fashion sense, she says it “varies”, but ultimately defines it as “hot, stylish, ‘cool girl’ and chic”.

In terms of her fashion inspiration, she says she looks to her mother.

“Since I was a child, I admired my mum in her beautiful outfits and jewellery, always getting her hair and nails done. She motivates me to be beautiful, both inside and out. I love her.”

Based between Sydney and LA with her jewellery brand, Emma Pills, she has her eye set on the international stage, which is only helped by her network of famous Hollywood friends who are often spotted wearing her jewellery.

Yet, she is also focused on building a name for herself within Australia.

Pillemer made an appearance on Made in Bondi, a spin-off of the UK’s Made in Chelsea, showcasing the lives of socialites and influencers in Sydney’s east.

“I’m extremely thankful for that experience – it was incredible, and I’ll always appreciate the team and cast.”

However, she opted to keep her personal life largely private on the show, setting her apart from typical reality show stars.

“I didn’t reveal much about my personal life. Despite being in the spotlight, I prefer to keep people guessing about what’s truly happening.”

And guess they certainly do.

Fans online speculate about her relationship with her famous friend, YouTuber David Dobrik, but Pillemer has dismissed these rumours.

“He is one of my best friends,” she says. “I’m 23, you know what I mean? I’m just living my best life. We have fun, he’s a great guy.”

While on the reality show, she was initially concerned about how she would come across, knowing that producers often “chop and change” things.

“But I really hope my true personality shone through – it’s hard,” she admits.

“I wanted to be authentic, and the drama isn’t my style. There were a few girls who … weren’t for me. I’m not about being bitchy.”

Her Instagram presence contributed to her being cast in the show, she admits, as she boasts over 100,000 followers.

“It all happened naturally, I was approached for another show the prior year, but that fell through. Then they reached out again. I embrace every opportunity … it’s all about life experiences. You never know what you can learn from them. And it was great exposure for Emma Pills,” she says.

“I’ve always had a good base in Australia, but now it’s gained even more traction.”

Her new festival collection, ‘Wonderland’, launched last week ahead of Coachella.

“It’s very ethereal and full of butterflies,” she explains.

“I launched the brand because I wanted unique pieces that weren’t available elsewhere. The reception has been great.”

Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is: “Find your niche and focus on what you’re good at and stick with it.”
