A flesh-flashing fashion trend has had been turned up a notch, resulting in a nearly-nude style that’s definitely not for the faint hearted.

The “extreme underboob trend”, a raunchy variation on the popular boob-baring design, has taken over celebrity events recently – catapulting the bold look onto radars of fashionistas with a flair for flaunting skin.

Singer Katy Perry and influencer Emma Chamberlain have been spotted in outfits that expose more than just a glimpse of the bottoms of their breasts.

Chamberlain, a Gen Z icon, stunned in a very revealing gown at a recent Vogue World event at Paris Fashion Week.

The 23-year-old American social media personality, who boasts over 15 million followers on Instagram and 12 million YouTube subscribers, turned heads in a custom Rick Owens look that showcased her chest.

“The crimson look came complete with a body-skimming, floor-length leather skirt and an unmissable, yet itty-bitty, knit bra top,” prestigious fashion publication Voguewrote when describing the star’s “most daring outfit” to date.

While cleavage and “underboobs” are not new, Chamberlain’s “micro-size top pushed the trend in an even more avant-garde direction”, Vogue concluded.

As “boobs make a comeback in haute couture”, largely credited to “lusty looks” on hit shows such as Bridgerton, according to the New York Post – stars are embracing it with welcome arms.

Katy Perry has also tried her hand with the “extreme underboob trend”, stepping out in an outfit that left little to the imagination at the same event in the French capital.

The former American Idol judge, who is gearing up to release her new single, showed off her physique in an ultra-revealing number by Noir Kei Ninomiya during a surprise appearance at Place Vendôme on Sunday.

Doubling down on the daring display, the “Firework” singer let it all hang out at Balenciaga’s fall 2024 couture runway show on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old went topless under a black fur coat, giving the ultimate underboob silhouette beneath the jacket.

Actress Zendaya may very well be the instigator of the trend after she donned a brown underboob top at the Dune 2 premiere in February.

The 27-year-old wore a cropped Bottega Veneta turtleneck that flashed her bust at the movie screening in Mexico City.

Issue with the new ‘extreme underboob’ trend

While celebrities are clearly into the bold look, fans of the stars have expressed concern over its practicality.

“You have so much faith in that dress,” one Chamberlain follower wrote on Instagram.

“Slay,” cheered another admirer. “But my nipples could never.”

Katy Perry fans had similar worries, with one declaring: “Fashion is nakedness these days.”

“Gravity would defeat me if I wore that,” another joked.
