LARA Worthington (nee Bingle) was announced as the face of Tiffany & Co last week, reportedly earning “tens of thousands of dollars” to attend a fancy event promoting her new role.

The 29-year-old mother-of-two is now based permanently in New York with husband Sam Worthington, so she was flown into Sydney especially to attend the cocktail party at Carriageworks on Thursday night.

The purpose of the event was to promote Tiffany & Co’s new jewellery collection and Worthington’s association with the brand.

Prior to the event, journalists had been told they would be able to interview Worthington.

“We will be able to facilitate a chat with Lara ... She is very open to answering questions about her involvement with the brand and working with Tiffany & Co.,” a Fairfax Media journalist was told.

But after Worthington arrived and spent 30 minutes posing for photos, the journalist was told she was unavailable for interviews because her official duties for the evening had ended.

“It’s too late,” an organiser said. “Lara now has entered her free time and she said she wants to enjoy that free time.”

Australian brands love to pay big stars huge sums of cash in exchange for putting in a short amount of face time at a media event.

Model Jordan Barrett, 20, reportedly earned $100,000 for a minute’s work at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week last month. The Byron Bay native flew into town especially to walk for men’s label Justin Cassin.

“If you are going to do it, I think you have to do it right so Jordan is the perfect person for my label,” Cassin told The Daily Telegraph.

During last year’s fashion week, model Bella Hadid, 20, was paid a reported $400,000 to appear as the face of Misha Collection.

Supermodel Naomi famously earned a cool $75,000 from car manufacturer Lexus for showing up to The Birdcage on Derby Day in 2013.

Nicole Kidman reportedly earned a similar figure from vitamins brand Swisse for her time at Derby Day in 2012.
