Fans are divided over Robert Irwin’s beef with Bluey cartoon

"No Aussie humour anymore. Have a cup of concrete, Irwin," said one, while others supported his right to sue.

Fans are divided over Robert Irwin’s beef with Bluey cartoon

If you haven't heard of Pauline Hanson's YouTube channel, 'Please Explain,' you probably have now, thanks to Robert Irwin drawing attention to it this week.

Irwin's lawyer, Zoe Naylor, sent a cease-and-desist letter to the producers of the latest episode of the cartoon comedy series, demanding its removal.

They claim it defames Irwin and deceptively uses his image.

The episode, titled 'The State of Queensland', features a cartoon Irwin alongside Bluey, and criticises the pair's involvement in a state tourism campaign.

In the 2-minute 22-second clip, Irwin and Bluey are kicked off a beach due to native title issues, have their car stolen by "juvenile delinquents," and face a six-month wait for healthcare services. At one point, the duo mistake a long queue for a rental inspection for a line at Movie World.

The video ends with Irwin saying: "I can’t believe this is the state of Queensland."

Now, the wildlife warrior’s fans are divided over his heavy-handed approach to the satirical video and for taking legal action over "a joke."

People tell Irwin to "get over it"

"Mate, get over the cartoon. If South Park can chuck on whoever they want and take the p*** ... you of all people should be able to take a joke at the expense of the government," one Aussie wrote.

"Pauline is right, I don’t hear you defending our kangaroos and koalas Robert, they are suffering. The cartoon was spot on, no need for legal action," another joked on social media.

"Crying because of a cartoon, grow up," a third remarked.

"No Aussie humour anymore. Have a cup of concrete, Irwin. Bloody hilarious," another responded.

"He has every right to sue"

Meanwhile, other fans appeared more understanding and supportive.

"I’m with Robert on this one. The cheek of them. They didn’t ask his permission, and they have no clue on his stance on the government," one wrote to Facebook.

"If he’s been used without permission, then he has every right to sue," someone else claimed.

"If they want to use his likeness, being funny or not, permission needs to be sought and he's not suing for money. He just wants it stopped," a different user wrote. "He's standing up for himself, so good on him."

Hanson has since responded and took to X and wrote: "I will not be removing the latest episode of Pauline Hanson’s Please Explain.

"I look forward to the day when Robert and I can have a good laugh over this and turn our focus to making Queensland a better state."
