There’s no doubt about it – the mighty mullet is back in style, with everyone from Olympians and footy players to pop icons and movie stars rocking the quintessential bogan ‘do.
With the only hard-and-fast rules being “business in the front, party at the back”, modern mullets are as diverse as they are cringe-worthy and are no longer just the domain of fishermen and pub rock-loving tradies who have been sporting the same cut since 1989.
And while the return is global, there’s no hiding that Queenslanders are global leaders of the once-maligned trend and that’s why we’re on the hunt for the state’s best mullets in all their gloriously inappropriate forms.
Do you have a proper Aussie mullet you think will be crowned the state’s best? Or is your modern, metrosexual spin far superior? What does your mullet say about you?
Journalistic integrity demands we must know!
Our interstate cousins have already crowned their winners and now it’s the Sunshine State’s turn to show them just how it’s done, with any self-respecting Queenslander rocking an excellent mullet morally obligated to enter and make sure we put those plucky Sydneysiders in their place (and don’t even get us started on Adelaide!).
Nominations have now closed. Big thanks to the hundreds of mullet tragics who have sent their nominations through. Finalists will be short-listed before readers vote for their favourites next week.
