Eileen “Red” Bond, ex-wife of controversial businessman and Bond University founder Alan Bond, has passed away aged 87.
It’s understood she died in Perth on Wednesday night after suffering a stroke.
Vice Chancellor and Bond University President Professor Tim Brailsford said the university extends its deepest sympathies to the Bond family.
“Red was a great friend and fierce supporter of the University since its establishment,” he said.
“She was a regular visitor to campus and attended many events, always bringing her own style and grace.”
He said the room was always brighter when Bond entered, and that her “cheeky” sense of humour brought joy to many people.
“The many students, alumni and staff who had the good fortune to meet Eileen will be deeply saddened by her sudden passing but forever grateful for the positive impact and joyous memories that she left with them,” he said.
“Our thoughts are with John, Craig and Jody, their spouses and Eileen’s grandchildren.”
