Coronavirus Qld: Qantas confirms food and alcohol service to resume on flights

Airline passengers rejoicing at the easing of travel restrictions have been given have been given more cause for celebration as Qantas confirms it will resume in-flight food and alcohol service. But it won’t apply fully to all flights.

QANTAS is to recommence in-flight alcohol service following the easing of some coronavirus restrictions.

After the pandemic caused the airline to make temporary changes to its normal rules, including cancelling in-flight food and beverage services, Qantas says passengers are now able to drink alcohol on flights again.

For passengers in economy, Qantas will offer a complimentary bottle of water and a snack, with pre-ordered special meals offered on services only from the east coast to Perth or Darwin.

A limited bar service is also available on economy flights departing after 9am.

“... Hot and cold beverages, including beer and wine, are back in Business Class on all flights and also some of the long sectors for economy... alcohol is back,” a Qantas spokeswoman told The Courier-Mail.

For business flyers, the airline has re-introduced a small selection of main meals, tea and coffee, and a bar service.

Pre-ordered special meals are also available on all business flights with the bar service available on flights departing after 9am.

The airline said customers are still able to bring food and non-alcoholic drinks onboard, as long as the food is able to be stored in carry-on baggage.
